Working with Susan Speigel Architects and CMHC, I assisted to develop and facilitate an intensive community consultation with the Burton Ave. Mobile Home Residents and community in Barrie, Ontario. This was aimed at exploring viable affordable housing options for the residents that would reduce the social and financial implications associated with their upcoming eviction date in July, 2014. The charrette including participants from the mobile home park, surrounding community residents, City of Barrie, County of Simcoe, CMHC, Institute without Boundaries, George Brown College, United Way and the Allendale BIA. Outcomes from the charrette will be presented back to the community and municipality of Barrie, with the intention that these residents will find a solution that is beneficial to all stakeholders.
